Mould Remediation & Removal

We provide expert mould remediation services throughout Queensland and New South Wales. With proven Methods to effectively treat and eliminate mould. Our specialists are trained in source removal to completely remove mould from your property. We provide customised treatment plans suited to your needs and the unique requirements of each job. We provide instruction and advice on how to prevent mould from coming back so you won't have to worry about mould again.

Mould Treatment

Our treatment packages include detailed surface cleaning to remove visible mould and contamination. In most cases, repainting is not required. This process helps to restore the appearance of affected areas quickly and cost-effectively. We finish with a professional mould misting treatment we call fogging. Designed to help protect your indoor environment. All essential steps are completed quickly and efficiently. Allowing you to return home the same day.

Mould Management

Atmospheric mould growth is very common in our climate. Our management plans keep it under control.

In a climate like ours, the question is not whether surface mould comes back, it is when. A mould management plan is a scheduled treatment at a discounted rate that keeps surface mould and indoor air quality under control, instead of waiting for it to take over and paying full price to clear it again.

Water Damage Restoration

Burst pipe, flexi-hose, storm or leak - the first 24 hours decide whether you have a clean-up or a mould problem. Due to our climate, water doesn't often dry on its own when a leak or a flood has happened in your home and by the time it dries, you now have a mould problem. We extract water, dry the structure, and prevent mould before it starts. IICRC-certified. Servicing Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Northern Rivers.

Scientific Lab Testing

We go beyond a visual inspection. Our certified technicians collect air and surface samples for analysis by an accredited independent laboratory in Brisbane. This provides a quantifiable report on the exact type and concentration of mould spores, giving you the definitive proof needed for any health, property, or legal concern. You will receive a detailed, easily digestible report, outlining mould types & concentration. Ideal for health concerns, property disputes and insurance claims.

Started by two mates

Mould Mates was started by two mates, Nick and Trav, who were tired of living in mould-affected rentals and being handed bleach-and-hope fixes that never lasted. We are an IICRC-certified firm that treats mould properly, at the source, so it does not keep coming back.

We've been asked many questions about mould and how it is treated

What causes mould to grow inside a home?
Mould will grow if there is adequate moisture in the environment. Leaks, poor ventilation, excessive condensation, flooding, high humidity inside the home, and poor air circulation are examples of common causes. The spores are always in the air, but they can only grow if certain conditions are met. These conditions are often met when humidity in the home rises above about 55%, an easy condition to meet in our humid coastal environment.
What is the difference between mould treatment and mould remediation?
This treatment gets rid of surface mould, improves air quality inside, and is ideal for treating humidity-caused mould without unseen water leakage problems. The remediation process is more complicated as far as mould caused by leaks, flood damage, and interior wall/ceiling cavities. This involves separating the contaminated area, removing or treating and encapsulating the damaged material, addressing the cause of moisture, and ensuring that all criteria of the IICRC S520 guideline are met. We can offer both services and truthfully tell you which one to choose.
Why does mould keep coming back after I clean it?
Though surface cleaning removes the mould, it does not fix the core reason for its occurrence. As long as there is moisture due to things such as high levels of humidity, poor ventilation, or leakage, the mould will grow again in that particular spot. The use of supermarket sprays may even make the situation worse by discolouring the area, making it look like the problem has been taken care of.
Can mould grow behind walls, under floors or in the ceiling?
Yes. Mould often grows inside wall and ceiling cavities, under flooring, and in roof spaces where moisture is trapped and ventilation is poor. A strong musty smell with little or no visible mould is a common sign it is hidden in the structure. Air sampling, thermal imaging and moisture mapping help us find it without tearing the place apart to look.
Is mould actually dangerous to my health?
For many people mould is an irritant, triggering coughing, congestion, itchy eyes, headaches and worse sleep. For people with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems it can be a genuine health problem, and ongoing exposure in damp homes lowers indoor air quality. We are not here to alarm you, but if symptoms ease when you leave the house, the mould is worth taking seriously.
